Vocational Programs
The Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp (WHCC) and Wyoming Boot Camp (WBC) offer classes based on the core curriculum from the National for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).The NCCER curriculum is taught nationwide by contractors, associations, and secondary and post-secondary schools. This vocational programming is compliant with the Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship requirements for time-based training. Inmates who have earned NCCER certification will be able to find a job in their field much more easily because the certification is recognized nationwide.
WHCC and WBC also provide the offender the opportunity to acquire his Career Readiness Certificate. Having the CRC is a demonstration that the holder has a certain level of “real world” skills that employers believe is critical for employment success. “Reading for Information” is given to measure communication skills. Problem solving skills are measured through “Applied Mathematics” and “Locating Information.” Reasons for working on and accomplishing a CRC are to build confidence in skills and to identify skill areas needing improvement.
