Bernice Madvig has been named the Human Resources Manager for the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) in Torrington, Wyoming. Mrs. Madvig was named to the position by WMCI Deputy Warden Mike Pacheco, effective January 1, 2009. Her office will be in Cheyenne until closer to the January 2010 opening of the new prison at which time her office will move to the WMCI.
Mrs. Madvig began her career with the Wyoming Department of Corrections in 1993 as a Financial/Statistical Specialist at the Wyoming Women's Center in Lusk. In 2003 she assumed responsibility for the human resources function at the Women's Center and she has served in that capacity since that time.
"I'm very excited and pleased to take on this new challenge," she said. "I'm looking forward to working with Deputy Warden Pacheco, other staff as they get hired, and the Town of Torrington to make this the best institution in the system." The WMCI will be hiring close to 400 new staff, starting in June 2009 and Mrs. Madvig will be instrumental in the hiring process. Wyoming Department of Corrections Director Bob Lampert has said that his goal is that many of those staff will come from Goshen County and the surrounding area.
Mrs. Madvig is married to Dave Madvig who is the Facility Maintenance Manager for the Wyoming Women's Center. They have three grown children and one grandchild.
