Sue Davis has been hired as a Human Resource Specialist for the soon-to-be completed Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) in Torrington, Wyoming. She began her position effective February 9, 2009.

Mrs. Davis previously held several positions at Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) in Torrington including work for the Personnel and Development Office. In 2001, she began work for the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) as an employment specialist where, in 2004, she moved into the position of supervisor of the Torrington and Wheatland offices. She retired from DWS before being hired by the Department of Corrections.

She is actively involved in the WMCI Prison Community Partnership Committee (PCPC). Other civic activities include past president of the Goshen County Chamber, member of the Goshen County Economic Development Committee, and creator of the Goshen County Workforce Alliance Group with EWC. This group was created when news of WMCI came in order to assist prospective employees with information regarding Torrington.

“(WMCI) will be a real boon for our community. There are a lot of great people in the community who’ll make great employees,” she said.

WMCI is scheduled top open in January 2010 as a medium security men’s facility housing approximately 700 inmates. Employees currently hired for WMCI include Michael Pacheco, deputy warden; John Rinaker, assistant maintenance manager; Bernice Madvig, human resources manager; Polly Helzer, administrative assistant; and Dee Herdt, administrative assistant. Employees hired to fill positions at WMCI will work in Cheyenne during the transition.
