Garment Factory
The Garment Factory, located within the secured perimeter of Wyoming State Penitentiary, has a wide spectrum of garment and embroidery capabilities. There are two sections within the Garment Factory. One manufactures internal products utilized within the Wyoming Department of Corrections institutions. Products include mattresses, pillows, bed linens, shirts, pants, and coats.
The other section works under the Prison Industries Enhancement Certification Program known to many as the PIE program. Products manufactured under the PIE program vary greatly, as we meet customer demands. These products are sold on the retail markets including customer web sites.
The PIE program is regulated and monitored by the Bureau of Justice with the assistance of the National Corrections Industries Association. Under the PIE program inmates have the opportunity to earn a prevailing wage that will be utilized in part to reduce taxpayer burden while mandating a savings account that an inmate may utilize upon release to help ensure a solid step forward into society in an effort to reduce recidivism.
